Westside Mission Center – New Orleans, Louisiana

Are you looking for an adventure that can really make a difference?

“Get up and go on the wilderness road in between.” (Acts 8:26)  Those words from God to one person inspire us to listen to what God might be saying to us today. We are “getting up and going” into the Lower 9th Ward following Hurricane Katrina to join God in bringing hope to those in between here and there.

Bono, the lead singer for the band U2 and Time Magazine Man of the Year, asked God what he could do with his life to make a difference. After reading the scriptures, he felt God tell him, “Don’t try and create something new, Bono; just get involved in something that I am already blessing!”

And that is what we are doing.

God is creating again! As God hovered over the waters of creation in Genesis, so God is doing the same thing in New Orleans following Katrina. How is he creating again? God welcomes people to be his arms and legs. We are a missional people who are called, shaped and sent to serve those “in between” the gaps of life.

God is propelling us into mission and it is very rewarding! We are seeing amazing things as families are returning to their homes and starting their new future.

Westside Mission Center ia a mission of the Great River Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  The Executive Director is Vance Moore.  We hope you will join us in mission!
